Obituary of Roger Basil Palmer

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Roger Basil Palmer on November 8, 2023 at home.  Born on February 19, 1946, in Doaktown, NB, he was the son of the late Edith (Bird) and Perly Palmer. 

Roger met the love of his life, Kathryn and they were married in 1968.  He was the produce manager at St. Mary’s Supermarket, before retiring.  For many years he was known as the Fiddlehead King, for selling fiddleheads at his roadside stand in Sheffield. 

Surviving are his son, Bradley; brother, Ivan (Janet) Palmer; sister, Lillian Laaper; a very special best friend, Ruth; and many extended family members and friends. 

Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother, Perly. 

By request of the family, there will be no visitation.  In celebration of Roger’s life, a memorial service will take place at St. John Anglican Church, Oromocto, 60 Broad Road, Monday, November 13, 2023 at 2:00 pm, with Rev. Stephen Harnish officiating.  For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Oromocto SPCA or the Fredericton SPCA.
