Joseph Victor Rice, born on November 13, 1937, in Botwood, Newfoundland, passed peacefully from this world on December 27, 2023.

A true son of the Newfoundland soil, Victor reveled in the pursuits of hunting, fishing, and the spirited game of hockey (go Canada go).

He is preceded in death by his cherished wife, Helen Madeline (Harvey) Rice. Victor leaves a legacy of love, survived by his children, Wendall James “Jim” Rice (Marleen [Lovek] Rice), Victor Wayne Rice (Peggy Cuthbert), and Rhoda Joanne McInnis (Douglas McInnis).

His memory lives on through the laughter and joy of his grandchildren, Catherine Jenna McInnis, Vicki-Lynn Marie McInnis, Brianna Kristen Rice (Shelby Greer), Kira Janine Rice, Kaitlynn Rice, and Ryan Grant Victor Rice.

Victor devoted 33 years to the armoured corps with the Royal Canadian Dragoons and Lord Strathcona’s Horse, stationed in Gagetown, Hemer, Lahr, Calgary, and a peacekeeping tour in Cyprus. Post-military service, he dedicated another 25 years to the Commissionaire Corps, finding solace and community in Oromocto. A supportive and loving husband and father, Victor’s impact reached far beyond his professional achievements. In honoring his wishes, a private family service and cremation will be held, marking the peaceful end to a life richly lived and warmly remembered. May Dad rest in eternal peace.
