I am very sad to hear about the passing of Kevin. I knew Kevin from the military and had the pleasure of working with him in Manitoba, Alberta, and overseas. In 2019, I was posted to NB and reconnected with Kevin after about a decade. We were able to get together a number of times, but with the outbreak of COVID and Kevin's battle with cancer, it wasn't nearly enough.
Kevin was always an interesting person to me. He joined the army when he was forty something years old, which is unusual, but at the same time very admirable. He had a sense of humor that was very quick, witty, yet kind of dorky, and if you didn't know him could easily come off as just plain weird. Kevin was extremely knowledgeable in so many areas, mechanics, programming, fitness, computers, music and on and on. Kevin taught me a lot about music, not only introducing me to new (to me) artists but also how music is made and produced and quality etc, analog to digital blah blah lol. It is something I am very interested in and passionate about now and truly believe would not be had it not been for Kevin.
Kevin was just a really great guy and will be truly missed. My thoughts go out to his wonderful family during this difficult time. Rest in peace Kevin.

The world has lost a gem, my condolences to Kevin’s family. I had the distinct pleasure and privilege of meeting Kevin during our work up training for Afghanistan. Always presenting himself poised and ready to calmly speak to any problem brought to his attention. Once we deployed I was humbled to find Kevin as my fireteam partner and bunk mate, we spent almost our whole tour working side by side. The impact Kevin had on me has forever changed me, I joked with Kevin regularly that when I grow up I want to be just like you. A kind and compassionate human whose knowledge seemed to span any topic being discussed. I asked Kev one day how exactly you know about seemingly everything; I read he replied. He then proceeded to show and give me his digital library, THOUSANDS of books on seemingly every topic, how to’s, technical, fantasy novels there was something for all. I remember the day the picture of Kev being shown was taken, lol our warrant officer was catching flack because the guys out didn’t have a picture for the tour book being made, so we went to the top of the mountain by OP 3 and took our pictures. Most of our peers had “hero shots” dressed nice with haircuts from the main base, we got to sport our battle rattle with our LSD patches (LCIS Super Det) Kevin had made for our det while on HLTA. Well Kev, you impacted me greatly in our short time together, and through the literature you gave me I believe you will be helping me for years to come.
With love and respect

My condolences to the Rowland family on the passing of cousin Kevin. We lost touch in later years, busy with our lives, but I have great memories of staying at the Rowlands outside of Ponoka especially during the summer months. Kevin was a great cousin, happy to play cars in the dirt or exploring the property. His time was too short on this earth, may he rest in peace.
