Robert Taylor

Obituary of Robert Taylor

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Robert “Bobby” Taylor announce his passing on January 31, 2024 in Edmonton AB. Born on January 11, 1953 in Sydney NS, he was the son of the late John and Shirley (Long) Taylor.

Bobby will be missed by his daughter Lee-Anne Taylor; granddaughters Olivia and Hannah;  brothers Ian (Lynn) and Ronald; sisters Sharon, Sandra, Patsy (Danny) MacKinnon, and Nanci (Darrell) Wojcik;  as well as many nieces and  nephews.  In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother David Taylor and his brother in law Elmer Cardinal.

Bobby joined the Canadian Military in 1977. After completing his Basic training in Cornwallis, he was off to complete his trades training at the Canadian Forces School of Communications and Electronics in Kingston, ON. He donned the Air Force blue beret as a Radar Technician and his career would bring him to Shearwater, NS, Baden Soellingen, Germany, back to Kingston, and then finishing his military career in Calgary AB.  If you were in his company, he wouldn’t hesitate to take the opportunity to dig out old photos of his service to share with you and share wherever in the world he called home. He was immensely proud of the time he spent in uniform as well as his family’s continuing tradition of service to Crown and Country, he never passed up the opportunity to let his nephews know how proud he was of them.

After serving 15 years in the Air Force he applied his electronic skills to other career endeavours.  He loved to fix anything electronic and would spend hours taking things apart and putting them back together. He also had a passion for fishing and cycling. But his favorite passion was spending time with his grand daughters.

A graveside service will be held at the Preston Carr Cemetery in Geary, New Brunswick on Saturday July 27th, 2024 at 1:00pm.

Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
