Obituary of Lucille Maude Gunter
Lucille Maude (Chapman) Gunter, 93, of White’s Cove, NB, passed away at home on February 12, 2024, with her family by her side. Born in Lower Cambridge, NB, on November 10, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Florence (Holder) Chapman.
Lucille is survived by daughters, Joanne Clingo and Lisa Gunter of White’s Cove; granddaughters, Andrea Vail (Gary), Alison Reid (Andrew), Lindsay Giesbrecht (Joseph), Courtney Berube (John), Jamie Yanishewski (Jeff), and Carmen Gunter (Luc); great-grandchildren, Emma, Elizabeth, Ryan, Eric, Sara-Lynn, Joshua, Matthew, Isabelle, Abigail, Isaac, Morgan and Audrey; sister, Joyce Thorne; sister-in-law, Grace Chapman, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Donald; son, Andrew; grandchildren, Timothy, Morgan and Nathan; and siblings, Ernest, Laurence, Allan and Isabel Chapman, and Lillian Pugsley.
Lucille was a woman of strong Christian faith. She had a gift of hospitality and loved to gather with family and friends for meals, games night, and special occasions. She was always willing to lend a helping hand. She carried many titles: wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, friend, teacher, baker, waitress, receptionist, square dancer, newspaper reporter, choir member, domino player, chef, and countless others.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Oromocto Funeral Home, 108 Winnebago Street, Oromocto, where visitation will be held from 3 to 7 pm on Thursday, February 15, 2024. A funeral service will take place on Friday, February 16, 2024, at 11 am at the Jemseg Baptist Church. A committal will follow the service at the Jemseg Community Cemetery with a reception to follow at the Jemseg Lions Club.
