Charlie was my boss while I was employed at the Army Learning Support Centre on Base. I quickly came to respect him, not just professionally but as a person. His door was always open, for a heart to heart chat about career and life. And we had a few. Charlie was bigger than life but still kind and compassionate. He made an impact on so many people. He will be dearly missed. My deepest condolences go out to his family.

My sincere condolences to Charlies family and friends. What a beautiful life he created! He epitomized courage, humor and love for his people. As his 1st cousin, we spent boat loads of time together in Birch Island exploring, hunting, fishing, biking, boating and everything young boys and men could possibly think of. We went to the same school (St. Charles) in Sudbury, and got our first real job on a tobacco farm together. He provided me with some valuable life lessons (the stories I could tell) before destiny took us in different directions. Plans, fleeting ideas; memories are steadfast creations. I will cherish every one we made together.

I’m very saddened to hear of Charlie’s passing.
I first met Charlie when he was at Valcom many years ago. We bid on some business together and stayed in touch over the years crossing paths at trade shows, conferences and just checking in. We didn’t speak often but when we did I always felt that I had his full attention. He was a very kind, giving man - willing to lend a helping hand and he appreciated the many relationships he developed over his extensive career.
My sincere condolences to his family.

Dar, Sheena and family,
John and I are completely heartbroken after learning that Charlie has passed. Such a loss of a man that we hold very high on our list of our most favourite people.
Charlie was such a man of great dedication to his family and his friends. He was a light in our lives and the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing him. This picture we are posting of he and John was taken the last time we saw him, August 19th of last Summer. I am so glad I took that picture and it will forever remind us of that big smile, his wonderful laugh, and the special friendship we had with him. So many fun days and nights on the water, enjoying his great cooking and 70s music. We feel so robbed knowing there will never be another August spent with him.
Reading of all his accomplishments and friends that he made in this life shows us all that not only did he make such an impact on us, but on so many others. He was a gentleman and a scholar - the best of the best and someone we will never forget.
Please accept our most deepest sympathy.

I’m heartbroken at the news of Charlie’s passing. Charlie and I served together on the boards of the regional aerospace and defence councils and were part of the Team that assisted in the creation and ultimate transition of those boards into ACADA.
Charlie was that welcoming sort of soul you seek out when you’re the new kid on the block and welcoming he was. I appreciated his guidance, mentorship and most importantly friendship we shared during and well after my time with ACADA.
Charlie and I stayed in touch through each year, always getting pumped for boating season. He will leave an imprint on me for the rest of my days…a solid and kind man…few of which grace this earth.
We’ve lost a great advocate for the humanity in people and he will be sorely missed.
My deepest condolences to the Richer Family at this time of unimaginable loss.

My sincere condolences to Darlene, Jake, Sheena & extended family. I will be thinking about you as you navigate this tremendous loss.
Growing up with Sheena, I got to experience first hand, how genuine, kind-hearted, thoughtful and witty Charlie was. He was always supportive and knew when we were up to something, carefully adding in his opinion in a humorous way.
Although I’ve been away for many years, each time Sheena and I connected, it never felt like I had been away at all. Charlie and family welcomed me and treated me like family, no matter how much time had passed.
Dar & Char made the perfect team - I always admired their relationship and mutual respect. He was such an amazing person to all his loved ones.
“There is a sacredness in tears. They are the messengers of overwhelming grief, deep connection and of unstoppable love.”
Rest easy, Char.

Uncle Charlie, such heartbreaking news.
You left Sudbury right before I was born- you were 19 and on your way for a lifetime adventure. I was raised by our family keeping your energy very present as if you were here all along. I finally got to meet you in person at 19 and over the years quick visits back home. I was able to really look up to you and be inspired by your success. I am so very proud of the man you became, the hard work, dedication and commitment you made for yourself and your family. You were very successful and built a dream life for yourself! I am still so inspired by you.
This passed summer we spent a week in your neck of the woods and really built some beautiful memories camp fires, guitars and singing. We are so glad we took the opportunity to spend time with you guys and really bond with you and the family in that time. We will cherish those moments forever.
May peace be with you, Love you forever. Oublies Pas!

To Charlie’s family, my condolences in this hard time, Charlie was a great man with a great sense of humour who was sure to get everyone laughing.
I was fortunate to have been able to work with Charlie, I was new to the defence industry and I remember the day Charlie called me and said, “here’s the plan, and you’re coming with me! Hope you’re ready!” As much as I wasn’t ready he helped me to better integrate myself.
One memory that me and Charlie would talk about every time we saw each other was the day we rented Scooters in Washington and saw pretty much everything Washington has to offer, regardless of where we ran into each other Charlie would say “we’re going to get scooters again this year?!”
Charlie, you’ll be deeply missed by all!

We are shocked and still processing his passing. I can’t imagine this senseless loss on his family whom Charlie loved so very much. While this saddens us deeply, Lisa and I can recount dozens of truly memorable moments over our many years as friends. Charlie served with both my father and I in the RCAC and had many laughs along the way. In the years that followed service, we learned how to succeed in the complex defence industry in Canada and we shared many great experiences on foreign soil. He was a champion of Canada and specifically Atlantic Canada through his contributions to industry associations, industry partners and community. Charlie was a great friend and he will sorely missed.
