Obituary of Donna Jean Casey

It is with great sadness that the family of Donna Jean Casey (63) announces her passing at the Dr Everett Chalmer’s Hospital on May 21, 2024 with her family by her side. She was the daughter of the late Herman and Mildred (Stennick) McAleer.

Donna is survived by the joys of her life, her son, Josh Casey and daughter-in-law, Montana Boadway; her sisters, Cathy Carr (Derek) of Geary, Evelyn McAleer of Oromocto, Shirley Carr of French Lake and Elizabeth (Betsy) Howe of Oromocto; her brothers, Skippy (Brenda) McAleer of Geary and Brian (Ceelee) McAleer of Toronto; a sister-in-law, Dianne McAleer of Waterville as well as her chosen brother, Donnie Stennick (Nancy) of Oromocto. Donna is also survived by many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly and especially there were the three nephews who could do no wrong in her eyes: Adam (Liz) Carr of Fredericton, Ryan McAleer of Geary and Gordie (Dianne) Carr of Peltoma.

In addition to her parents, Donna was predeceased by her infant daughter, Irene Marie, her brothers, Arthur and George, and a very special nephew, Robbie McAleer.

Donna was retired but worked 25 plus years for the NB Government, most of those years were in the Post-Secondary Education, Training & Labour Department as a CEMS/ICEMS Coordinator manager. Donna loved to hunt and enjoyed many more outdoor activities, spending time at her camp until bad health overtook all she loved and she could no longer continue to enjoy them. She was an avid Radio Bingo player and loved jigsaw puzzles.

The family would like to extend sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of the DECH ICU for the care and compassion they provided. Gratitude and appreciation are also extended to the Extra Mural staff.

The family will receive visitors at the Geary Baptist Church on Saturday, May 25, 2024 from 12:30-1:30 with service to follow at 2:00 pm officiated by Pastor Robb Hunt. A private interment will take place in the South Oromocto Lake Cemetery immediately following the service. Due to health problems, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Lung Association or to a charity of the donors choice in Donna’s name would be greatly appreciated by the family.
