Obituary of Maureen Gail Cousineau
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Maureen Gail Cousineau announces her peaceful passing on August 15, 2024, at Hospice House Fredericton. Born in Princeton, British Columbia, Maureen was the beloved daughter of Betty (Lundquist) Pavich and the late Tom Pavich.
Maureen was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother (Nanny/Grammy), and friend, cherished for her warmth and kindness. She was a devoted military wife, a life that took her across the country, from Quebec and Manitoba to British Columbia and New Brunswick. In 2020, Maureen and Daniel moved back to New Brunswick to be closer to family. She embraced each new place with grace and curiosity, proudly learning to speak French during her time in Quebec. Her commitment to community and service was evident in her active involvement with the NDP, Union UFCW 832, and the Brandon Police Board. She also served as the President of the Shilo Community Club in Manitoba for four years, and was a cheerleading coach at Oromocto High School, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Maureen’s professional life saw her contributing to Atlantic Superstore in Oromocto, Sobeys on Prospect Street in Fredericton, and Safeway in Brandon, MB, where she was a dedicated member of the safety committee. Beyond her work, Maureen poured her energy into her children’s and grandchildren’s lives, supporting their school activities, fundraising events, and sports with unwavering love and enthusiasm. Family meant everything to Maureen, and her greatest joy came from spending time with those she loved.
Maureen’s love for the outdoors was evident in her enjoyment of swimming, camping, and boating—activities she cherished sharing with her family. Additionally, Maureen's passions extended to traveling and riding her Hus-Ski with family in the winter, where she embraced the thrill of the season. She also found creativity and relaxation in working with ceramics. Maureen had a deep love for baking and cooking family meals, often teaching her children and grandchildren how to create delicious dishes and sharing her creations with those around her, especially during the holidays.
In addition to her mother, Maureen leaves behind her loving husband, Daniel; her daughters, Cindy (David) MacCready, and their children, Alana and Amelia of Welsford, NB, and Tracy (Shawn) Duguay and her children, Thomas and Bradley Moore of Fredericton, NB. She is also survived by her brother, Wayne Pavich of Chilliwack, BC, as well as several nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.
A celebration of Maureen’s life will take place on Saturday, August 24, 2024, from 1-4 pm at the family home, 8 Goddard Lane, Mill Cove. All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend and the family kindly requests that you bring a written memory to share. The family also invites you to share memories and stories through the Oromocto Funeral Home website.
