Obituary of Heather Gloria MacMillan

The family of Heather Gloria MacMillan is saddened to announce her passing on October 4, 2024, at Carleton Manor, Woodstock, NB. She was 79 years old.

Heather is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Montgomery MacMillan; her daughter, Shawna MacMillan (Sylvain); and her son, Marc MacMillan (Charlene). She cherished her grandchildren, Chantal Bériault (Colby) and Mathieu Bériault (Lauren), all of Fredericton. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law, Marie Wood, and brother-in-law, Stanley MacMillan (late Tappy), both of PEI; special cousins, Debbie Poore of Arizona and Linda Poore of Fredericton; and her nephew, Sandy MacNeill (Andrea) of Fredericton, along with niece, Marta McMurtry (Craig) of Washington. Heather will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews on the MacMillan side of the family. Additionally, she is survived by her beloved poodle, Maximillian.

Heather was predeceased by her parents, Murray and Greta (Poore) MacDonald, her sister, Marilyn MacNeill (late Preston MacNeill), and her parents-in-law, Arthur and Madelene MacMillan. She also mourned the loss of her brothers-in-law, Doug MacMillan, Alan MacMillan (late Joan), and sisters-in-law, Eileen Morrison (late Lloyd), Eva Dollar (Ernie), and Janet Eva. Heather held dear the memories of her cherished poodles Bugsy, Casey, and Romeo.

For 27 years, Heather served as a devoted public servant on the Construction Engineering team at CFB Gagetown. She found joy in many activities, including playing bingo, shopping, watching Boston Bruins games, and listening to country music. Heather took great pride in her family, especially that her husband, son, and son-in-law are all veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces.

The family would like to extend their deep appreciation for the amazing care and compassion shown by the staff of Old Goodine Lane at Carleton Manor with a special thank you to nurse Natalie Gullison.

A graveside service will take place at the Oromocto Pioneer Gardens Cemetery on Wednesday, October 9, 2024 at 2:00 pm with Dr Rev Perry Hanley officiating.

Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on the Oromocto Funeral Home memorial page and share them with the family. Donations to Carleton Manor in Woodstock, the Oromocto SPCA, or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.

Heather will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
