Obituary of Patrick James Kiley

It’s with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved father, Patrick “‘Pat” James Kiley, on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at the Veterans Health Unit in Fredericton, NB at the age of 87. 

Pat was born in 1937 in Sydney, NS to the late Mathew and Isabel (Brophy) Kiely. He was the youngest of 4 siblings.

 

Pat was a devout Cape Bretoner.  He proudly served in the Canadian Armed Forces Artillery for 22 years. After retiring from his military career in 1976, he went to work for the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton, NB, where he remained until he finally retired in the early 2000’s.

 

Pat loved classic and western movies, and was an avid reader of mystery and thriller novels. He was also a die-hard fan of the Jazz/Blues singer Al Jolson.

 

Pat is survived by his children, son, Bruce Kiley (Deborah Clarke) of Halifax, NS; daughter, Trish Kiley (Alex MacLellan) of Rothesay, NB/Bradenton, FL; daughter, Jaime Estabrooks ( Rob Estabrooks ) of French Lake, NB; granddaughters, Melissa Kiley (Ken Wagan) of Hamilton, ON,  Jennifer Connolly (Conor McCullough) of San Jose, CA,  and Emma Estabrooks of French Lake, NB; one great granddaughter, Sophie Wagan of Hamilton, ON;  his beloved niece, Rose Hanna (late Peter Hanna) of Sydney NS, and numerous other nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and grand nephews.

 

Patrick is predeceased by his loving wife of 55 years, (Rose) Marie (nee. Sampson), his mother, father, sisters, Gert (Archie) Spencer, Mary (John) Flannigan, and Rose (Malcolm) Campbell,  a brother, Francis, in infancy and a niece, Rosanna Campbell, in infancy.

 

We would like to thank Dr Keddy and all of the nurses and staff of the Horizon Health Veterans Health Unit in Fredericton for the exceptional care they provided to our dad.

 

To honour Patrick’s life, a tribute by the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #93 will take place at the Oromocto Funeral Home on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at 2:00 pm followed immediately by a memorial service. A private interment will take place with the family at St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery at a later date.
