Obituary of Deana Thomas
It is with great sadness that the family of Nadine “Deana” Hazel Thomas announces her passing at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton, New Brunswick, on November 24, 2024. She was born on July 22, 1942, in Canterbury, New Brunswick.
Deana is survived by her son, Frank Thomas (Kathy) of Alberta; daughters, Anne Holmwood (Scott) and Shelley Mallery (Sean O’Neill); sister, Geraldine Small (Glen); grandchildren, Carrie McLaughlan (Brendon) and Robert Mallery (Sam) of New Brunswick, Alyssa and Jordan Thomas of Alberta, and Stefan of British Columbia, as well as her great-grandchildren, Faith, Constance, Akeyla, Gabrielle, Hazen, Isaiha, Acacia, Jocelynn, Hugh, Heiden, and Jeremiah.
In addition to her parents, Edward and Hazel (Ingraham) Grant, she is predeceased by her husband, Francis “Frank” Thomas; son, Michael Thomas; son-in-law, Hugh Mallery; brothers, Ray, Willard, Elwood, and Douglas, and her sisters, Ruth, Evelyn, Elva, and Betty.
Deana loved her Bingo nights, be it over the radio or alongside her many friends at the Burton Lion’s Club. You would never find her without her scratch tickets. Deana was a free-spirited, strong, stubborn, and caring woman. Those who had the privilege of a conversation with her left with a piece of her. May she forever live on in our hearts.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date. For those who wish, donations in Deana’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Oromocto Food Bank.
