Obituary of L. Daniel McCoy

It is with great sadness that the family of Lloyd “Danny” McCoy announces his passing on the 8th day of December 2024, at the Saint John Regional Hospital at the age of 61. He was born on September 22nd, 1963 in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Danny was the loving husband of Betty McCoy.

In addition to his loving wife of 35 years, he leaves behind his children who were his world, Emilyann Smith (Colby) and James McCoy (Jordan), and his pride and joy, his only grandson Jeremiah Smith. He is survived by his siblings, Sandra Barry (Ron) of Brookside, NB, Randy McCoy (Ann) of the Richibucto Road, NB, Joann McCoy (Mark) of Nackawic, NB, and Kelly McCoy (John) of Charlotte County, NB. He also leaves behind his several in-laws, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and his very special friend, Marcel McLaughlin.

He was predeceased by both his parents, Jim and Marie McCoy, as well as his mother- and father-in-law, Myrtle and Harold Davidson.

Danny was a kind hearted man that would drop anything he was doing to help out someone in need; “no” was not in his vocabulary. He loved and spoiled not only his grandson Jeremiah but his furry grandchildren too. He was an avid racing fan and loved spending his summers surrounded by family, friends and good food at Speedway 660. He was always ready to hop in the car with his daughter to go shopping and make a stop at Starbucks or hop on a snowmobile with his son and take off to ride through the meadows.  Whenever Danny was around, he made sure everyone always had a smile on their face and their bellies were full.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the nurses and doctors at both the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, especially the CCU, and Saint John Regional Hospital SICU for their exceptional care.

A visitation will be held at Oromocto Funeral Home on Friday, December 13th, 2024, from 4:00 - 7:00 pm. A memorial service will be held at Geary Baptist Church on Saturday, December 14th, 2024 at 11:00 am. For those who wish, donations in Danny's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of the donor's choice.

Goodbyes are not forever. Goodbyes are not the end. They simply mean, I’ll miss you. Until we meet again.
