I met Kayla my first day at EC. She had me at..”ya buddy!” I fell in love instantly with that smile and laugh that would brighten up anyone’s day. We were compadres in and out of school. We played jokes on everyone, laughed a lot in and out of school. She was always there when I needed her…night or day and she always said the most perfect thing to make me laugh. Along with her smile and humour, came food and lots of it. She always managed to leave one sub on the counter, forget about it for two seconds and then try and convince my St Bernard,Dreyfus and my Newfi, Mulligan to give it back to her..she did it smiling because she knew it was a lost cause but always a good try. She always seemed to drop by just when I needed her the most..I didn’t realize this time she wouldn’t . I’ve not been able to come to terms with this loss. I’ve reached for the phone more than once this week to call only stoping when I couldn’t see the screen through my tears. She had the biggest heart, brightest smile and the most contagious laugh that will live in my heart and head until I can’t remember who I am anymore. We had this saying we’d use instead of, hi or by..we’d always say, miss your face. Oh Kayla, I will forever miss you my friend. Miss your face. Love forever and a day, Nat
