Obituary of Gerald Clyde Adams

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gerald Clyde Adams on January 7, 2025, in Fredericton, NB. Born on May 1, 1955, in Saint John, Gerald lived a life marked by love, dedication, and service.

Gerald was a devoted husband to Jane (Walton) Adams; a loving father to Hilda Adams and chosen daughters, Sonya Godin (Johnny), Susie Strowbridge and Gwen Massey. Gerald was proud grandfather to Alyssa Ward (Andrew), Alia Adams, Christopher, Brianna, Ryan, Iesha, Otylia, Asanna, and Amelia; and great grandfather to Easton, Vivian, Tegan, Zale and Octavius. Gerald is also survived by his two brothers, Norman Adams (Kim) and Hughie Adams (Linda); a niece, Heather and nephew, Mark; in-laws, Betty Lou, Vera, Frida, Brenda, Sharon, Patsy, Kevin and Kim; and his beloved animal companions, Ducky and Navi. His family was his greatest joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

Gerald was predeceased by his parents, Arnold Adams and Kathleen (Chappell) Adams, in-laws, Marian, Eddie, Shirly, Bobby and Grump. Gerald carried their memory and values with him throughout his life.

Gerald served his country with honor and distinction in the military. His years of service, from 1973 to 1993, were marked by bravery, commitment, and a deep sense of duty. He will be remembered by his comrades as a reliable and courageous warrant officer who always put others before himself.

Known for his infectious sense of humor, Gerald had a unique ability to bring laughter and joy to those around him. His playful spirit and constant joking made every gathering brighter and more enjoyable. He had a knack for finding the humor in any situation, and his lighthearted personality will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Gerald's legacy of love, strength, and integrity will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. Though he is no longer with us, his spirit and the memories we shared will remain with us forever.

A visitation will be held at the Oromocto Funeral Home on Saturday, January 11, 2025 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm, with the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #93 holding a tribute service at 5:00 pm. A service to celebrate Gerald's life will be held at the Oromocto Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at 1:00 pm with the Rev. Canon Walter Wiliilams as celebrant. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the SPCA or the Kidney Foundation in his memory.

“I love me too; I don’t blame you!” - Jerry
