Obituary of Victoria Ashley King

Victoria Ashley King, 23, of Sheffield, NB, left this world tragically and unexpectedly on November 25, 2024.

Born on May 28, 2001 in Fredericton, NB, she was the daughter of Karla King and the late Mike Thurber.  Victoria leaves behind her mother, older sister and closest friend Abby and a very special niece, Maci.  She also leaves behind maternal grandparents, Diane and Richard King; aunts and uncles, Shelly and John Thurber (Mike and Kristen), Charlotte and Shawn (Jennah, Leigha, Kayla), Leah-Ann (King), Jon (LeBlanc), Marissa (J.P.) half-sister, Michelle Bennett and half-brother, Kendall Connors, both of Alberta and very special cousins, Kathleen O’Leary and Emily King.

Victoria was predeceased by her father, Mike; sister, Hannah as well as her paternal grandparents Doreen and Wayne Thurber.

Self-proclaimed “Local Lunatic”, Victoria lived up to her nickname.  She loved fast cars, horses and making people laugh.  We will all miss her quirky and often inappropriate sense of humor and ability to entertain, no matter the situation.

Victoria had a special relationship with her niece, Maci,  who shares the same funny qualities that made Victoria so endearing.  Maci will miss her “Aunt Goya” dearly.  We will pledge to keep her memories alive everyday for Maci’s sake especially.

Victoria fell in love with horses as a toddler and as years went by, became somewhat of a horse whisperer.  There wasn’t a horse she couldn’t identify or saddle up and ride.  Their horses, Willow and Bacardi were always so close to her heart.  She once said that Bacardi was the only boy to ever have her heart.

The softer side of Victoria proved she had many talents that surprised even herself.  Painting landscapes, rescuing animals, writing and singing were just a few.

The family is grateful for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time and request any donation in Victoria’s name be made to Bridges of Canada or SPCA.

A Funeral Service will take place on February 3, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the Oromocto Funeral Home, led by Greg Geldart. Interment will take place in the spring at Sheffield United Church Cemetery.
