Obituary of Kenneth Currie

The death of Kenneth Oscar Currie occurred on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born in Fredericton, NB, on March 22, 1949, he was the son of the late of Oscar and Mavis (Atkinson) Currie. Kenny is survived by his sisters Shirley Welbon (Willie) and their daughter Cheryl, Beatrice Stevens (John) and their children Wanda, Wendy and Michael, Linda Drummond (Guy) and their children Cindy, Esther, and Robbie, Judy Donovan (Reece, deceased) and their children Jeannie (deceased), Jennifer and David. Kenneth is also survived by seven great nephews; three great nieces; one great great niece. Kenny lived all his life in Oromocto and saw it change from a small town to the largest military base in Canada. Kenny enjoyed picking fiddleheads in the spring, strawberries, blueberries and raspberries in the summer and cranberries in the fall. All of these he generously shared with his family, friends, and neighbours. He was employed with the Oromocto Works Department where he worked for 51 years. He retired in May 2017. There will be no visitation or service. Interment will take place in Burton Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, donations in Kenny’s memory can be made to the New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation.
