Obituary of Margaret McKinney

It is with great sadness that we announce Margaret McKinney passing on June 13, 2018 at her residence, Kings Way Care Centre, with her daughter and son-in-law at her side. Born on November 20, 1925 in London, England, she was the daughter of the late Edward John and May Elizabeth (Catlin) Lee. Margaret came to Canada as a War Bride in 1946. Prior to Margaret’s journey to Canada, she worked in England in the civil service. Later she worked as a faithful employee at CD Anderson Insurance Ltd for many years. Margaret was a life member of Oromocto Public Hospital Auxiliary and was often found working at their gift shop. She was also a member of the Fredericton War Brides. Survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Catherine and Michael Brannen; granddaughter, Lori Graham (Kurtis); as well as great grandchildren, Haley and Kaitlyn Graham. In addition to her parents, Margaret is predeceased by her husband, of 69 years, Walter Edison McKinney; sister, Evelyn Cook; brothers-in-law, Eldon, Aubrey and Roland McKinney; as well as a sister-in-law, Hazel McConchie. The family wish to thank the Kings Way Care Centre family for their exceptional care of Margaret while she was a resident. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 18, 2018 at Oromocto Funeral Home from 1:30 – 2:30 pm. A funeral service will be held at the Oromocto Funeral Home following the visitation at 2:30 pm with Pastor Tim Shaw officiating. Following the service an interment will be held at St. John’s Anglican Cemetery. Donations in Margaret’s memory may be made to Kingsway Care Centre, St. John’s Anglican Cemetery or a charity of the donor’s choice.
