Obituary of Peter Lorne Anderson
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Peter Lorne Anderson, Ret’d Company Sergeant Major, on June 17, 2018. Born on April 17, 1946 in Boston, Mass, he was the eldest son of the late Lorne and Marie Anderson. He grew up in Glace Bay, Sydney River and Coxheath, NS.
He is survived by his wife, Maureen, of 50 years, Lincoln, NB; he was also a loving Papa to his grandchildren, Brody, Bryce, Kassy, Kyara, Alexis and Jack whom he loved dearly; sisters, Elaine, Diane, Kathy, Fran and Rea; as well as brothers, Roderick and Stephen.
In addition to his parents, Peter is predeceased by his sons, Ronald and Ryan; grandparents; as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Peter served for 30 years in the Canadian Forces with the Canadian Guards, 3 Mechanized Commando and the Royal Canadian Regiment. During his tenure in the army, he served in Petawawa, Cyprus, Norway, Denmark, Germany, Gagetown, Yellowknife, N.W.T and Cornwallis.
He was a member of the Canadian Guards Association, the Royal Canadian Regiment Association and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 93, Oromocto, NB.
His favourite times were spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed his time in the military and summers spent with his grandparents Roddie and Mary (Beaton) Anderson in Inverness, NS.
We wish to thank the staff of 3SW at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton, all who took the time to visit, as well as family and friends
Visitation will be held at Oromocto Funeral Home on Thursday, June 21, 2018 from 6 – 9pm. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 93 will hold a legion tribute at 5:45 pm prior to the visitation at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held in the Oromocto Pioneer Gardens Cemetery on Friday, June 22, 2018 at 2 pm with Rev. Canon Walter Williams officiating. No flowers by Peter’s request, donations can be made to the Oromocto Pioneer Gardens Cemetery - Field of Honour.
