Obituary of Cecil Snow
Cecil Snow, our Dad thought the best a man can do to live a successful life was to be known as "A good man who was a good son, a good brother, a good husband and a good father who always looked after his mother and father until the day they died." By that measure and many more, Cecil Snow had a successful life. Cecil Snow died surrounded by his family on November 11th, the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War. How fitting that God chose this day to call him home. Cecil changed his birth certificate as a 16 year old so that he could get into the Second World War and then proceeded to serve in the army for 30 years. His father Stanley was a war hero from the First World War.
Cecil was born on September 23rd, 1929 in Sydney Nova Scotia. Dad’s love for life and his heart was broken when his bride of 69 years, Mary Snow (Grant) passed away on December 19th, 2013. Dad spent many weekends locked up for being AWOL when he was courting Mary. When it came time to go back after leave he told us that he just couldn’t do it. He mourned and missed his "little sweetheart" every moment until the end. He told us to not shed a tear with his passing because he will be back with her again.
It is with a heavy heart that his three boys Jimmy, Robert and Danny write this good bye. Dad was preceded in death, by his mother Mary Snow, his father Stanley Snow and two of his sisters Alice and Katherine. His youngest sister Betty lives in St Thomas, Ontario.
Dad’s three daughters- in-law, Sheila, Karen and Peggy and his six grandchildren Jason, Robert, Daniel, Devon, Cameron and Liam loved him dearly and will miss him greatly. His granddaughters-in-law Sarah, Jen and Jill and two great grandchildren Maria and Jacob loved "Cecil". Dad’s annual trip to the to the Grant Feast and then the Party at The Points with the Boudreau’s created stories that will be told and held dear for a generation.
Dad’s love of life and great sense of humor endeared him to his nieces, nephews and friends. It was always a great morning when he was with family. He loved to joke and laugh, especially in the mornings and not knowing the words to songs never slowed down his singing. All of the family loved spending "porch time" with Cecil.
It is hard to imagine a world without him, but Cecil and Mary built a family that was close and founded on love and they knew it would survive and prosper after they were gone. Dad was proud of and loved his family. He wanted us to be happy and he did all in his power to achieve this goal.
The family will move forward with Cecil as our role model. We are lucky to have had the privilege and honour of calling Cecil Snow.... Dad.
Good bye!
