Obituary of Kay Sanford

It is with sad hearts that the family of Inez Kathleen ("Kay") Sanford announce her passing at the Oromocto Public Hospital on November 16, 2018 at the age of 87. Born in Kingsclear, NB, Kay was a daughter of the late John Jervis and Inez Mary (Key) Bamford. Kay was predeceased by her loving husband of 66 years Clifford Sanford earlier this year. She was often heard saying that 66 years wasn’t enough. She was also predeceased by son Mark, and by brothers Jarvis, Bill, Percy and an infant brother, Derrek. Kay is survived by daughter, Cheryl Loeffler (Beau); son, Scott Sanford (Laura); daughter-in-law, Jo Ellen Sanford (Roland Belliveau); three grandchildren, Serena Silliker (Robert), Andrew, and Grayson; great grandsons, Ryker and Ridley; sisters, Betty Ingham (late Terry) of Halifax, Bessie Currie (late Garrett) of Island View and Carol Alison (late George) of Sussex Corner; as well as several nieces and nephews. Kay was a devoted wife and mother and was known as a kind soul and had a gift of hospitality. She loved hosting family meals with her special recipes such as zucchini bread or chicken lasagna to name a few. She enjoyed making stained glass, ceramics, and knitting in her spare time. She was a member of the Oromocto Baptist Church where she served in several capacities over the years. Visitation will be held at Oromocto Baptist Church on Monday, November 19, 2018 from 4-7 pm. A funeral service will be held at the church on Tuesday at 2:00 pm. Interment will be in the Oromocto Pioneer Gardens Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, donations in memory of Kay made to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation , Oromocto Baptist Church or charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Oromocto Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. The family extends a special thank you to the staff of the Oromocto Special Care Home, Oromocto Public Hospital and to Laura Guimond for their professional care and kindness.
