Obituary of Kevin Alan Hayward

It is with great sadness that the family of Kevin Alan Hayward, 57, of Waterville – Sunbury Co. announces his sudden passing on Monday, December 31, 2018 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born in Fredericton, he was the youngest son of the late Merl and Laura (Tatton) Hayward. It was said "a nicer guy you could not meet, loved his life and sports and hanging out at Kings Arrow Arena". Kevin was a score keeper for the gentlemen’s league at the arena for about 30 years. He was a hard worker doing many different jobs during his life. Delivering newspapers as a boy and after graduation from OHS in ’79, he worked many different seasonal jobs. He enjoyed every job he had, from working at the Gage Golf Club, working for the Town of Oromocto at the Kings Arrow Arena to his janitorial jobs. His most recent job was with Christ Church Cathedral Fredericton, where he worked full time as their Sexton. He took great pride in mowing and keeping the grounds looking tidy. There always was a shine on the floors as he could be found mopping, stripping or waxing the church and hall floors. He was very well liked by all the church members and was an honorary member of the Holy Joe’s (the guild of St. Joseph). He helped them out quite often. In 2014 due to issues with diabetes, he had to retire and was left disabled. He faced many health issues without complaining. Many days were spent in either the DECH or OPH. Kevin is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Susan (Hynick), his mini schnauzer Zoey, brothers Chris (Dale), Mel (Maddie) and several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family would like to thank every nurse in OPH and the DECH who took care of Kevin. Also thank you to all of his wonderful doctors, too many to mention, Oromocto Extra Mural and all of the ambulance attendants. Visitation will be held at Oromocto Funeral Home on Friday, January 4, 2019 from 4-8 pm. Kevin’s funeral service will be held at Faith Baptist Church, 525 New Maryland Hwy, New Maryland on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 2 pm with Pastor Larry Matthews officiating with Canon Walter Williams and The Very Rev. Geoffrey Hall assisting. A reception will be held following the service. For those who wish, donations in Kevin’s memory can be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation, Extra Mural Program Oromocto, Faith Baptist Church’s Benevolent Fund, St. John’s Anglican Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
