Obituary of Kathleen Gould Ackerson

The family of Kathleen "Kay" Gould Ackerson is sad to announce her passing at the Oromocto Public Hospital on July 2nd, 2019. Born on August 19th, 1921, she was the last surviving child of the late John and Hazel (Gould) Kimball. Kay will be dearly missed by her daughters, Joyce Shanks (Fred), Elizabeth Murray (Ron), Sharon Calder (Terry Mersereau) and Margaret Armstrong (Bev Boone); her 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson, 10 step children; and her dear friend Donna Hickey. Along with her parents, Kay was predeceased by her husband Borden; the father of her children, George Armstrong; an infant son John; her sister Geraldine and her brother Leslie. Kay will be remembered as a teacher, an athlete, an advocate for the blind and a trail blazer. There will be a visitation from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 pm at the Oromocto Funeral Home, 108 Winnebago St, Oromocto, NB on Thursday, July 4th 2019. A funeral service will be held at the Oromocto United Church, 144 Winnebago St, Oromocto, NB on Friday, July 5th 2019 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make donations to the CNIB or the New Brunswick branch of the CCB.
