Obituary of Adolf Paul Schiffers

It is with great sadness that the family of Adolf Paul Schiffers announce his death on September 12, 2019 at Hospice House Fredericton. Born on October 19, 1933, in Dinslaken, Germany, he was the son of the late Hubert and Karoline (Klever) Schiffers. Survived by his sons, Thomas and Peter Schiffers both of Calgary, AB; daughters, Doris Craig (Jim) of Panama, Diana Fairweather (Doug) of St. Stephen, NB; Ellen Gallant (Paul) and Alvine MacIver (Ken) both of Minto, NB; 18 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; brothers, Hans (Ellie) and Reimund (Trix) Schiffers both of London, ON; sister, Kathe Wittgruber of London, ON; as well as several extended family members. In addition to his parents, Adolf was predeceased by his wife, Waltraud (Luber) Schiffers; brothers, Joseph, Hubert, Carl-Heinz, Friedhelm, Gregor and Norbet Schiffers; as well as a sister, Else. For most of Adolf’s employment, he worked as a sandblaster painter and was a coal mining engineer. At the age of 65, he decided it was time to retire and spend his free time with his family and friends. Some of his favourite hobbies were fishing, woodwork and he loved to play darts. In fact, Adolf was a very accomplished dart player. He played in many tournaments and even got a chance to play against the dart player who held the world champion title. By the request of the family, there will be no visitation or service. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to Hospice House Fredericton or a charity of the donor’s choice.
