Obituary of Ivan Hedley Boulter
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ivan Hedley Boulter on October 2, 2019, at Hospice House, surrounded by his loving family. Born on February 11, 1923 in Gagetown, NB, he was the son of the late Hedley and Florence (Gourley) Boulter.
Throughout Ivan’s long life, he had many tales to tell. He joined the Canadian Air Force at age 18 and served in WWII. He retired from his military career as a Warrant Officer. He continued his working career as a business man who built Boulter’s Texaco in 1953, which he operated until 1985. In Gagetown, Ivan was involved with multiple organizations, including the Gagetown Legion, of which he was a life member, and the Gagetown Rotary, of which he was a charter member. A favourite tale he loved to tell was of the time that he danced with the famous Ginger Rogers. For his musical enjoyment, Ivan often listened to Hoagy Carmichael; he was quite fond of Hoagy’s music.
Ivan is survived by his beloved wife, Victoria "Vicky" Pauline (Bigney) Boulter of Gagetown, NB; daughters, Geraldine MaGee (Raymond) of Gagetown, NB, Paula Mahoney (Karl) of Ottawa, ON, Janice Perry (Neil) of Gagetown, NB and Karen Knight (Steve) of Montgomery, Texas; step-sons, Andrew (Colleen) of Oklahoma and Jeffrey Maxwell (Crystal) of Tracy, NB; 7 grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren, with one more soon to arrive; as well as several extended family members.
In addition to his parents, Ivan was predeceased by his cherished wife and children’s mother, Mary (Kwasney) Boulter and sister, Mabel Watson.
By Ivan’s request, there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at St. John’s Anglican Church, Gagetown, NB on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 2 pm with Rev. Andrew Horne officiating. Interment will take place in the St. John’s Anglican Cemetery, Gagetown, NB. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Gagetown Rotary Club, Hospice House Fredericton, Gagetown Legion or Salvation Army.
