Obituary of Ronald Wade Nielsen

Ronald Wade Nielsen, B.Sc (1975 Calgary Canada 125 Silver Medalist), was born June 6th, 1952. After a lengthy battle with kidney disease and diabetes, Ronald passed away on January 7th, 2020. He is lovingly survived by his spouse of 30+ years, Vanessa Bourque; her daughter, Melissa Franklin (Geoffrey); grandsons, Alden and Atlas Franklin; granddaughter, Alora Rose Franklin; step-brother, Edward Nicolas Sabo; step-sister, Madeline Melnyk; and life long friends, James Imlach, Tony Caramignoli, and Paul Kouri. He was predeceased by his step father, Nicolas Sabo and mother, Theresa Donomi. Ronald was a Calgarian by birth who worked for 41 years with the Canada Revenue Agency, H.O. Ottawa where he received a medical retirement in October 2012. Ron was passionate about sports and was an avid fan of football and hockey, which he enjoyed with his former friends of Calgary and Ottawa. Ron had a heart filled with love for his family, work, and friends. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A private family service and interment will be held at a later date in Calgary, AB. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation, Heart and Stroke Foundation or Diabetes Canada.
