Obituary of Hazen Hayes Huestis

It is with sadness that the family of Hazen Hayes Huestis announces his peaceful passing at Orchard View Long Term Care in Gagetown on January 28, 2020, at the age of 93. Born in Jemseg, NB, on August 3, 1926, he was the son of the late Harold and Winnifred (Hayes) Huestis. Hazen is survived by his sisters, Joan Murray (Leslie) of Island View, NB, and Madeline Gemmell of Riverview, NB; nieces, Diane Munn (Jeff) and Melanie Grimmer (John); nephew, Michael Gemmell (Terry). In addition to his parents Hazen was predeceased by his nephew, Dale Murray; brother-in-law, Derek Gemmell. Hazen was a retired employee of the New Brunswick Provincial Government. The family would like to thank all those involved in Hazen’s care, nurses, staff, Dr. Fraser, and Dr. Snell at Orchard View Long Term Care for their excellent care and support while Hazen was their patient throughout the years. Although there will be no visitation, friends are welcome to attend a memorial service at the Oromocto Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 2:00 pm. Rev. Chris Price will officiate. Interment will take place in Jemseg Baptist Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, donations in Hazen’s memory can be made to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of the donor’s choice.
