Obituary of SPECIAL PUBLIC HEALTH MEASURES … UPDATED MARCH 29

Like everyone else we here at McAdam’s & Oromocto Funeral Homes are monitoring the Coronavirus / COVID-19 outbreak and doing what we can to protect the health and well-being of our customers and staff. Protecting our community is first and foremost on our minds. At this time, we have decided to restrict public access to our funeral homes in keeping with recommended social distancing practices. With our province being declared in a state of emergency, it is also required that we no longer hold gatherings over the 10 person limit. These decisions were made to keep our community as safe as possible during this pandemic. We are strongly encouraging families to conduct arrangements via e-mail and/or phone and suggesting that services be kept to the most immediate family or close friends. (keeping in mind the 10 person limit) At the family's request, services may be filmed and uploaded to our website for those who are unable to attend. Postponement of services and gatherings are also an option for families. Our Funeral Director’s can guide you through your options during this most difficult time. Staff, as always, are available to you around the clock by telephone so please be assured that if needed, we are here to help you. If you require assistance, please call and we can make an appointment or proceed with arrangements in whatever manner best suits you. (McAdam’s 458-9170 / Oromocto 357-5100) In addition, for the foreseeable future, we will be taking certain precautions to help ensure the health and peace of mind of all of those that have to enter our funeral homes. We wanted to share these with you and ask for your cooperation in trying to keep everyone safe. Sanitizing products will be available for use through the lobby, parlours, coffee room and reception area. We encourage you to use them and to wash your hands regularly. We will be doing our best to regularly disinfect the common areas in the funeral home, especially those things we all touch like door handles, counters, and hand railings. Seating for services will be limited as, where possible, we are moving chairs apart to limit personal contact. If you wish to send a condolence or pledge a memorial donation, we encourage you to do so on our website or by telephone to minimize unnecessary contact and congestion at our desks. If you have to enter the funeral home we ask that you please call ahead and try to refrain from close contact with others. We suggest staying 6 feet apart and strongly recommend not having any physical contact such as shaking hands or hugging. While we certainly understand the importance of coming here to support family or friends at a time of loss, if you are feeling unwell, having flu-like symptoms, or running a fever, please stay home until you have recovered. We are asking the same of our staff. We thank everyone for their understanding as we continue to monitor this evolving situation and determine the best way to protect everyone.
