Obituary of Dorothy Roach

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Dorothy Christiana Roach, age 93, of Oromocto, NB. Dorothy was born in Keppel Township, Ontario to Earl and Ellen Cole. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Howard Roach, brother Cecil Cole and sister Irene McDougall. Dorothy served in the Canadian Women’s Army Corp from April 1945 to June 1946. Our Mother lived for thirty years in Roblin Village in Lincoln, NB. She was an active member of the Lincoln Wesley United Church for many years. She enjoyed the outdoors – cross-country skiing in the winter and walking many a mile along the river the rest of the year. As her activity level declined, she still enjoyed quilting, knitting, reading and baking. Dorothy is survived by her son, Albert Roach and her daughter Coleen (Carl) Marshall, Oromocto, her granddaughter Susan Marshall, Fredericton, and her brother Mervyn Cole, Owen Sound, Ontario. The family would like to thank the staff of the DECH, 4NE, for her care during her final days. We also extend our immense gratitude to the staff and residents of the Oromocto Special Care Home who loved and cared for her during her time with them. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Oromocto Funeral Home. At Dorothy’s request, there will be no formal service or visitation. A private interment will take place at a later date in the Burton Cemetery. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Oromocto SPCA.
