Obituary of Douglas Tibbs

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Douglas Tibbs (Doug) of Waasis NB, at the age of 59 years young, on Sunday, May 10th, 2020 at Hospice House Fredericton, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on November 9th, 1960 in Gander NL, Doug was the son of Rupert Tibbs and the late Alma (Kelly) Tibbs. Doug was the loving and devoted husband of Pauline (Gautreau) Tibbs. In addition to his wife, he is survived by stepchildren Maynard Murray and Lisa Fairweather (Karen Green); step grandchildren Michael and Marissa Murray; sister Iris (Tibbs), Forbes (Larry); brother Harvey Tibbs (Jeannie); sister in law Doreen Belleville; sister in law Paulette Poirier (Guy); sister in law Donna Leblanc (Aurel); brothers-in-law Eric Gautreau and Richard DiCarlo; sister-in-law Leah Gautreau; Aunt Mildred Weeks (Kelly); several nieces and nephews, and long-time friends Buckie Paul, and Jorge Serrano. Along with his mother, Doug was predeceased by his stepmother Marlene Tibbs; sister-in-law Joan (Gautreau) DiCarlo and brothers-in-law Robert (Bobby) Gautreau and John Belleville. Doug was a quiet man who enjoyed a simple life. When he was not working as an automotive technician for Oromocto Canadian Tire he could be found at home spending quality time with family from his favorite chair. Doug was a gentle, kind, and caring man, who always put his family first. He would do anything for anyone. Doug was a former member of the Defenders Motorcycle Club and he had a great love for "Riding" and working on cars. Doug was also quite handy and could fix anything with a little duct tape or some other old unwanted item that he found lying around. He enjoyed golfing, boating and fishing; however, one of his most favorite activities was camping with his wife Pauline at their special spot in St Andrews, NB. The family would like to give thanks to the Oncology team at both the Dr Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton and the Saint John Regional Hospital; as well as Extra Mural and Hospice House Fredericton. A special thank you to Gary Fitch and the Oromocto Canadian Tire team and the many friends and family for their unwavering support during these last 10 months. Arrangements have been entrusted to Oromocto Funeral Home. A private visitation was held on Monday May 11th for the immediate family. There will be no formal visitation or service at this time. For those who wish, donations may be made to "The Motorcycle Ride for Dad", "Hospice House Fredericton" or a charity of the donor's choice.
