Obituary of Emma Diane Joan Sullivan

Emma Diane Joan (Soper) Sullivan, age 76, passed away peacefully on August 17th, 2020, due to a short battle with brain cancer, her childhood sweetheart and husband of 55 years, Michael Sullivan, at her side. She was born December 3rd, 1943, in St. John’s Newfoundland, to the late Edward and Gladys Soper. For many years Diane worked with the federal and provincial governments as an administrative professional. Following retirement, Diane and Mike moved from her beloved Newfoundland to be with family in New Brunswick. She was a member of the Lincoln Baptist Church and served in the ‘Soups On’ ministry. She expressed her love for the Lord through her poetry. "How beautiful heaven must be, sweet home of the happy and free, fair-haven of rest for the weary, how beautiful heaven must be". Diane showed her love for others through baking, cooking, and crocheting. "Drop in for some beans", "I made you some tea biscuits". "These blankets are for the girls beds", she would say. Cherished mother of her surviving children, Glenn (Andrea) Sullivan, Shawn (Susan) Sullivan, loving grandmother to Alyssa, Abigail, and Olivia, and adored nanny to Luke and Sophie, she treasured her family above all else. In addition to her husband, Diane left behind a legacy of love to her many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 21st, 2020, from 5 – 8 pm at Oromocto Funeral Home. A Celebration of Diane's life will be held at Lincoln Baptist Church on Saturday, August 22nd, 2020 at 2 pm. Lincoln Baptist Church and Oromocto Funeral Home will have staff available to advise guests on COVID-19 procedures. A live broadcast of the celebration will be available on the Lincoln Baptist Church Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/1405324546461008/posts/2733622860297830/?extid=aqwmc2UV8pFUrIX3&d=n. An interment will be held in the Lower Lincoln cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate memorial donations to Hope4Cancer GoFundMe campaign for Diane’s niece, Ronda, found at the website, https://www.gofundme.com/f/confident-expectation-ronda-kuehl.
