Alberta will be missed by her children Melda Carr (Percy) of Oromocto, NB, Brenda Mallet (Ovilda) of Maple Grove, NB, Milton Cogswell of Fredericton, NB, Karen Shears of Oromocto, NB, and Lucha Chater (Chris) of Victoria BC; 6 sisters Elva Carr, Leila Levison, Violet Cummings, Eleanor Fidler, Lena Mitchel, and Greta Carr; three brothers Everett Howe, Richard Howe and Elzie Howe Jr.; 18 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Alberta was predeceased by her son Benjamin Cogswell; step-son Timothy Mowatt, her second husband Rev. Worden Mowatt, 3 brothers William Howe, Leon Howe, and Edward Howe; and 2 brothers-in-law Donald Levison and Ronald Carr. Alberta was proud to be the first female cook in Camp Gagetown beginning in 1957 and continued for seven summers. She then had to stop to take care of her husband who had cancer. Three months later, at 34, Alberta became a widow and single mother with 6 children to look after. After her own health issues, and with God’s help, she was able to live another 56 years. She is now resting with her Maker. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at the Oromocto Funeral Home from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A funeral service will take place at the Geary Pentecostal Church on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at 2:00 pm by invitation only due to Covid-19 restrictions. The service will be live streamed on the Geary United Pentecostal Church’s Facebook page www.facebook.com/GearyUPC , or all are welcome to tune into the FM Radio Station 88.3 in the parking lot to listen to the live broadcast. In lieu of flowers, donations in Alberta’s name to the Canadian Cancer Society, Diabetes Canada, or The Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
