Uncle Ivan was very dear to my heart,even though miles kept us apart, he would send me 5-8 pg handwritten letters often ever since i was 15.I have fond memories of camping on Deer Island,and listening to the fog horn all night long.Greeting us in the morning with some hot tea from his tarnished and blackened teapot off the campfire. one time we were staying with Hazel & Ivan and he surprised us in front of our tent flap with a tray of homemade molasses cookies,standing there in an apron and covered in flour.Best cookies ever!He made me feel special, always thought of him as my grandpa. He is now at peace and with his beloved Hazel.I will treasure his memory forever Love Debbie
