Obituary of Harold Edwin Wood

The death of Hal of Geary, NB occurred at the DECH on 8 May 2021. Born in Saint John, NB in 1932. He was the son of the late Hartley and Nora (Robichaud) Wood as well as the husband of the late Mary (Doucette) Wood. He was employed by a number of companies over his life, most recently retiring at the age of 88 from the Gage Golf & Curling Club after 23 years of service. Over his lifetime he served as a captain with 3 Field Regiment Militia (the Loyal Regiment), achieved 4th degree knight with the Knights of Columbus, took sea cadets on an international exchange program to Sweden, and was awarded "Sportsman of the Year", as well as life membership by the New Brunswick Wildlife Federation. Survived by sons Daniel (Sheila) of Stratford, PE and Stephen of Geary, NB; granddaughter Jaclyn Wood (Mike Finnie) of Fredericton, NB; step-grandsons Steven Greene and Jason Greene (Natasha) of Edmonton, AB; brother Joe (Marjorie) of Rothesay, NB; special family friend Brenda Wright, as well as several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A public visitation will take place at Oromocto Funeral Home on Monday, July 19, 2021 from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm. A memorial service will follow the visitation in the Oromocto Funeral Home Chapel at 2:15 pm with Fr. John Jennings officiating. Interment will be held at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Cemetery. For those that wish, memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
