Obituary of Douglas Marvin Doucette

Douglas was born in Saint John, New Brunswick to the late Leonard and Gwendolyn (Martin) Doucette. Doug joined the Royal Canadian Military Engineers in 1966 until retirement in 1991. He served in every province and territory in Canada, as well as stints in England, Bermuda, and Germany. He left the military on a Friday and started the following Monday on a 19 year career with a Hotel Company. Doug rose from chief engineer of one hotel to Corporate Engineer of Maintenance for 26 Hotels across Canada, retiring for good in 2010. Doug was a hard working, conscientious worker who hated lazy, incompetent workers. Doug loved his family and made every major decision based on how it would affect his wife and son. He loved to play squash and go fishing. Their retirement home on Grand Lake was their dream home, even with some issues regarding floods. His traditional Sunday drives with Linda and their "lets try this road" attitude, always opting for the new rather than the known destination, will be missed. Doug will be sadly missed by his wife of 51 years Linda (Vail), his son Lane, and siblings Nancy Prowse, Lenny Doucette, Sharon Head, and Linda Friars. As per Doug’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral services, but an informal gathering will be held at a later date, as arranged by his sister Linda Friars. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the John T McMillan Memorial Foundation (http://www.familieshelpingfamilies.ca/about-us/).
