Obituary of Barbara Couturier

It is with sadness that the family of Barbara Anne (Penny) Couturier announce her passing on Friday, January 21st, 2022, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born in New Germany, NS on August 28th, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Annie (Powers) Penny Barbara was a simple, hard working woman. She was employed by D&M Autobody for 17 years and then spent 30+ years working for Always Sales. Barbara was the best hockey mom, in spite of the fact that she thought "it was the dumbest game ever! Why anyone would get up at that time of the morning to hang around in a cold hockey rink" was beyond her. She made sure the boys made it to all their games growing up. She loved to go on adventures in the motorhome with Ed and they were blessed to visit Many, Many places between Florida and Alaska. Always one to spot a bargain, Barbara loved to stop along the way at yard sales, flea markets and the like, to add another treasure. Barbara will be forever in the hearts of her son Rob Couturier and his wife Debbie, step-son Steven Golding, daughter-in-law Wendy Couturier, brother Victor Penny and his wife Linda, sister-in-law Laura Penny, grandchildren Tyler Couturier and April Couturier (OJay Platt), several nieces, nephews and extended family members and her sweet little dog Sandy. In addition to her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her long-time partner, Ed Golding, her son Rick, her brother Glenn and her sister Marilyn Tully (Dennis). Honouring her wishes, there will be no visitation or service. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
