Obituary of Catherine Mae Lorette
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Catherine "Cathy" Mae (Doucette) Lorette, best known to her family as Fuddie, on January 28, 2022. Born in Kentville, NS, on January 1, 1950, she was the daughter of Florence (Corbin) and the late David Doucette, and loving wife of Donald "Don" Lorette.
As a proud mother, grandmother and great grandmother, it is no surprise that Cathy put her family first whom she loved unconditionally. She was an extremely hard worker from a young age, and loved food. She ensured that everyone had full bellies that visited, and if there was a good sale at the grocery store, Fuddie knew where to find it, and everyone else soon knew too! She found a fairly new hobby; Facebook. A great new way for her to be up to date on the latest things going on around town. You could find Don running all over town, chasing after the free items that she found on the Marketplace, Fuddie always knew someone who could use them.
Thinking of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Nanny Fuddie would spoil them constantly whenever they were with her. For more proof of her spoiling the grandchildren, you would only need to walk into the house during Christmas time, or any holiday for that matter, to see the coffee table covered with trays of candy, gum, chocolate, etc. She would also encourage them to help themselves every time they came, even before diner. What Nanny said went.
The love of her life was Don, even when she would "nag" at him, you knew she loved him. They were best friends, and spent all of their time together. Over the years they would travel together in his tractor-trailer, including many trips with Heidi and Daniel when they were young. Later in life, Cathy discovered she had a love for camping. This gave her more opportunities to spend time with her family, and spoil them some more with treats upon treats.
She will be greatly missed by her husband of 45 years, Don; children Heidi (Chris) and Daniel (Cindy); grandchildren Amanda, Jordan (Julie), and Brad (Alexa); great grandchildren Benjamin, Kyla, AJ and Lucas; mother Florence; sisters Joanne (Jim) and Susan (Kevin); brothers Paul (Marion) and David, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her father, Cathy is predeceased by her grandson Aaron, and a brother Gary.
By request there will be no visitation. A private family gathering will take place at a later date. For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to your local homeless shelter or the IWK Foundation.
Fuddie we will miss you.
