Obituary of Christena MacPherson

It is with great sadness that the family of Christena (Tena) MacPherson announce her passing at the Dr Everett Chalmers Hospital (DECH) on February 5, 2022. Born in Aspy Bay, Cape Breton Nova Scotia, on September 11, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Alex and Magdlean MacIsaac. Mom is survived by sons Bryan (Sandra) MacPherson, Cobourg, ON, Dennis (Darlene) MacPherson, Oromocto, NB, and Sheldon MacPherson, Oromocto, NB; daughters Debbie Stevens, Fredericton, NB, Norma MacPherson, Geary, NB, and Doline (Steve) Bobbitt, Burton, NB; grandchildren Dawn, Jennifer, Erin, Christy, and Darren; great grandchildren Olivia, Harmony, Henry, Liam, and Reese; sisters Florence MacDonald, Sydney, NS, and Susie MacIsaac, Sydney, NS. Besides her parents, Mom was predeceased by her husband, Duncan MacPherson; brothers Randal, Jim John, Edward, and Donald; sisters Jessie, Margaret, Mary, and Annie; son-in-law Brian Stevens, and daughter-in-law Cathy MacPherson. Mom was a proud Cape Breton’er although she lived most of her life in Oromocto, NB. Her passions were her family, Bingo, and 45’s, not necessarily in that order. Mom was out going and very social. She volunteered at the Oromocto Public Hospital until the age of 82. She loved to bake, knit, quilt, and all things flowers. The thing mom looked forward to the most was a summer trip back home to Sugar Loaf, Cape Breton and enjoying the hospitality of Donald and Bunny. The family would like to offer a special thank you to Enhanced Living Gagetown’s entire staff for showing our mom love, compassion, kindness, and patience when she needed it most. Thank you for treating our mother like she was your own. We appreciate everything you did that made mom feel safe and loved. Thank you to the DECH, 4NE, for the week of compassionate care you showed to our mom. In her final years of fighting the relentless disease of Alzheimer’s, she tried to take everything in stride. We love you, mom, and you will always be in our thoughts. No more worries, mom, you are at peace now. Respecting the family’s wishes, there will be no funeral at this time. A graveside service will be held at a later date in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Burton, NB. In lieu of flowers, in memory of Tena, a donation may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or a charity of your choice.
