Obituary of Mary Elizabeth McCarthy

Mary Elizabeth "Betty" (Williams) McCarthy, age 83, of Oromocto, NB, passed peacefully away after a long illness on February 12, 2022. Betty was predeceased by her daughter Brianna (2009), and parents Sydney and Catherine (Baxter) Williams. Left to mourn are her husband, of 53 years, Robert; nephews Darryl (Gary), and Robert Fraser (Holly); niece Catherine Williams (Brian); one grandniece Robin Mullin (Justin); two great grandnieces Breanna and Alexandra Fraser; and one great great grandnephew Atticus Mullin Born in Saint John, NB, Betty eventually traveled to NL and in 1966 she met Robert. They were married in 1968, and continued to live together in St. John’s and then Conception Bay South NL for 45 years. Betty and Bob ran their pharmacy in NL for 28 years. Once they retired in 2012, they moved to Oromocto, NB, where they have led an active community life. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Betty’s life and Funeral Mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church on Monday, February 21, 2022, at 11 am with Fr. John Jennings as celebrant. Due to current restrictions, proof of vaccination and government issued identification will be required for entry to the Funeral Mass. Interment will be held in the spring at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations would be greatly appreciated to one of Betty’s favourite charities, the Food Bank or your local SPCA.
