Dear Betty, Cindy, Karen, Derrick and families,
We are so sorry to hear about Gordon's passing. I have so many wonderful memories of your trips to Lake Ramsay and Gordon's frequent visits to our home. We thought the world of all of you, and it was like family visiting when you came for various holidays. I know Dad especially enjoyed his chats with Gordon, and they engaged in many stories about the army and politics, usually over one of Dad's favourite drinks. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of you during this sorrowful time. All our love, Allan, Nadine, Kaylyn, and Keegan

I never knew Gordon but well remember Cindy being entrusted with his winter kit sweater for a home economics demonstration of washing wool garments. I worked with Betty briefly at one point. Such wonderful women must have had a good man at their backs. I want to express my sympathy for the family.

Deepest condolences to Betty and family on your loss of Gord—such a wonderful man. Gord was such a lovely person and always the “Johnny on the Spot” where ever he was needed at St. John’s Anglican Church. My husband, Rick, enjoyed working with Gord many years ago, helping him do some home renovations and he has great memories of that time.

I only had the pleasure of meeting Gordon a few times through his son Derrick. While I didn’t get to know him well I do know his son very well. I respect the self discipline, the commitment to serve your community and the desire to always lend a hand that Gordon instilled in Derrick. Our world is a better place because of people like Gordon Gravelle. Take comfort knowing he is resting comfortably in Gods hands.

I recall Gord very well from our time together in "Hotel" Company of 2 RCR in 1972-73 and our Cyprus tour in 1973-74. He was a thoroughly dependable NCO who would take on any task and complete it to a high standard. Gord cared about soldiers and did everything in his power to teach and mentor the skills that he had and displayed. The world will be a sadder place without him and his concern for others and commitment to "people" writ large. RIP, old friend, and thank you for your friendship and your service.
