Obituary of Daphne Stella Murphy

Daphne Murphy was called home to join her heavenly father on May 27, 2023. Born in Pacquet, Newfoundland on February 17, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Emma Jane Loveman.

She is survived by her husband, Francis Murphy; children, Roxena Savile (Wally), Michael Park (Lynn), Glenn Park, Terry Park (Lori), Russell Park (Jennifer Lawlor); step-children, Carolann Murphy (Reg Flarow), Shawn Murphy (Angela Cormier) and Mark Murphy.  She is also survived by her siblings, Carl (Levitta) Loveman and Patsy (Don) Randell as well as many extended siblings in the Loveman, Park and Campbell families. She was proud “Nanny” to 27 grandchildren and “Great-Nanny” to 22 great-grandchildren.

Besides her parents and siblings, she was predeceased by her first husband, Chanie Park, daughter, Penny Rowsell, step-daughter, Tina Worden, grandchildren, Shannon Savile, Chanie Savile, Penny Park, and Michael Flarow.

Daphne loved to spend time with her family. She enjoyed children, which lead her to work in childcare at the Oromocto Day Care Center and Oromocto West Child Care center for over 20 years. Feeding her family was a big part of Daphne’s life. Every family gathering meant great food and a taste of her Newfoundland traditions. Together, Daphne and Frank loved to travel and go tenting. They were “always on the road again” and their adventures took them all over, sometimes without a plan at all. Those who knew Daphne, knew she was a funny, kind, gentle soul who cared for others.

Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Hospice Fredericton for their exceptional and compassionate care of Daphne during her brief illness. Their care and kindness to family was also exceptional.

There will be a visitation at the Oromocto Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 from 6-8 pm.
