Condolences Sharon and family. I always loved Gary's spirit and personality and appreciated his friendship. One of the best neighbors and friends anyone could ask for. It's obvious he touched alot of people the same way and for good reason. He'll be missed but never forgotten. XOXOXO

Archie and I send our heartfelt condolences to the entire Hasson family at this difficult time. Gary was certainly one of a kind and his impact will continue to be far reaching. I met Gary in 1988 when he warmly welcomed me into the Northrup Raiders family. He called me Spunky because as much as he dished out, I always gave back. When I think of him, I always smile, even when I remember that I had to give up part of my honeymoon so Archie could pitch at Provincials. I don't remember if they won or loss, but I do remember feeling like a part of a family. I'm just glad that the cow in the hotel room was a road trip before my time! RIP Gary. May your family find comfort in the love and support of the community you inspired. X0

Dear Sharon, We are so sorry to hear this shocking news. Our thought's and prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time.
Just so many great memories of those years playing Gents hockey with Gary, John and Shane at Kings Arrow: the social events and the after-game get togethers in the skate shop....Gary knew how to keep the team engaged and to make us all feel welcome. Such a generous man and always the entertainer. I recall at a ball tournament in Saint John (Loyalist Days perhaps), when he and a few of his team-mates spontaneously took the stage to sing Dr. Hook's "Cover of the Oromocto Post"...priceless. We'll miss Gary deeply but cherish those memories and the friendships we made...those were the greatest years. God bless Gary.

Dear Sharon and family. I am so sorry to hear about Gary’s passing. He was one of the nicest guys. I have known him since I was a teenager. He was always so kind to me and he was so funny. When Gary and the guys were in Toronto to see Jimmy Buffett we caught the streetcar to the concert. By the time we reached the concert venue, he had everyone laughing on the streetcar, including the driver. If you know Toronto people, they don’t laugh easily!! Gary was one of a kind. He will be missed. My thoughts are with you xoxo

I have known Gary since about 1980 when he and his brother John played for my bother Bob's Team 'Irving Co-Star' when us 8 separate Teams with our own ice time started the Capital City Hockey League. Since, he has sharpened my skates over 100 times lol and I have entered his annual hockey Pool, his seconds hockey Pool and a couple of times in his Friendship Hockey Tournament.
He also scored for the Oldtimers Hockey League when his legs would not allow him to play anymore.
I never saw him in a bad mood or angry since 1981 when I tripped him on the ice lol.
A real true, nice gentleman!
I will be away for the 'Celebration of Life' so this is for my fond memories of Gary.

To Gary's family, and John. I was in shock when I heard of Gary's passing. Just the Saturday before, we had an interesting chat of 20+ minutes. Gary and John have been the maintenance guys of my hockey equipment for more than 30 years. Organizers of a GREAT Friendship Tournament year after year. 30+ years that started as a business relationship that quickly turned into a friendship relationship. Everyday, I drive by the Queen St shop on my way home after work. Everyday, I look inside the shop, just because. For the past 2 weeks, it's no longer the same when I drive by. Hard to imagine life without Gary around. Thanks for the good times. Thanks for your great work on my goalie gear. Bon voyage Gary. You will be missed.
