Hello family of Nelly. We were friends with your mom's sister Lies and her husband in Canning, NS. We met your parents a few times in Canning, and once on a motorbike trip at their farm. Very lovely people on a wonderful farm! Lies was very glad to have a sister in Canada. New Brunswick was much closer than Holland! So sorry for your loss! Nelly and Harri joined our family when my dad married Nelly sister Elisabeth ( Lies) but we knew their friendship already in the late 1950’s in Maugerville and then have cherished their loving friendship for many years with them and their children.

So sorry to learn of Nellys passing. They were staples in the community as long as I remember, everyone knows the big red barn and beautifully landscaped property. It's red maples in a straight row and Nelly always had flowers along the fence. I'm sure she will be missed by her family as well as the community.

So very sorry to hear of Mrs. Schutenbeld’s passing, such an immense loss for her family. I knew her only a little bit, mostly we exchanged the occasional hello at church through the years. I called her Mrs. Shuttenbeld, always, and though she had no reason to know who I was, she never failed to be friendly, sweet and gracious. Last year I had the great fortune to spend a whole afternoon with her, along with her fellow residents at Paradise Villa. That day, in memories that were clear and detailed, she shared the story of her amazing life, from childhood, to war, to emigrating to Canada. Her legacy of hard work, intelligence and compassion lives on through her children. Our thoughts and prayers are with them all.
